Myriad Desert

The vast Myriad desert is a hostile place, overrun by distinct civilizations. It has never been successfully explored by the Empire, which has no plans of dedicating attention to such a project.

The largest nation of the Myriad are the Nomads. They are constantly moving their settlements, and are excellent horsemen. Their ruler, the Dereva of Shihar, rules from the nomadic city of Shihar. This city remains in one location for a year, at which time all the residents follow the Dereva to a new home. The Dereva commands the loyalty of thousands of horsemen, and is constantly seeking out those who would defy his power. The Nomads dislike all non-human races, especially felines.

Wizards and clerics exist and are greatly respected in their societies, but are also quite rare. The difference between a warrior and a thief does not truly exist to the nomads, as they believe they are fundamentally the same, accomplishing the same goals with different methods.

Another society of the Myriad are the Bogran tribes. Made up entirely of elves, the Bogran have more permanent homes hidden in caves beneath rock formations. They are known to prefer walking over riding, and have incredible resistance to the elements.

There are two seasons in the Myriad, the dry and the storm season. The dry season lasts nine months, and is extremely hot, to the point of being unbearable to an unprotected traveler. The storm season, lasting three months, is also very hot, but is also a time of violent storms that occur with little previous indication.
