Lione, the capital of the Sovereignty of Vaelar, is located in Tervede Forest. It is the second largest city on the continent, and shares many of the Empire' s moral values. The main religious orders in this city are the High Temple of Simiah and the Temple of Cattar. The High Temple of Simiah / The most influential religious order in Lione is the High Temple of Simiah. It is the home of the High Messenger of this Faith, and the grounds of the temple are covered with trees and gardens, the main cathedral, and living quarters for the clerics. The layout of the temple grounds loosely resembles that of Catalania City's High Temple of Cattar. Recently, a small building has been constructed for the Knights of Simiah. This knightly order and many recent improvements in the city and the temple grounds are due to the work of the former High Messenger, Wolwacz. The Temple of Cattar / This is the home of the Third Messenger of Cattar. It is a great, ten story building, with imposing sculptures and enormous stained glass windows. The Estate of the Third House / Home of Welyan Brask, one of the most influential political figures in the north, the Estate of the Third House is a manor house built by various great architects. The surrounding gardens are spacious, and the manor gates surround an expansive area around the edifice. When the Empire came to Lione during the Second Freemen War, their commanders stayed at this estate, under the invitation of Lord Brask. The White Bear Inn / Located behind the Temple of Cattar, the White Bear serves a variety of ales, Gradlin, and Sengerster. It has also started serving coffee in a variety of styles, especially that of Rahajad. It is a known fact that many prominent thinkers and adventurers enjoy the comforts of this tavern, and it has become considerably more popular over the past years. The Scerine Family Tavern / Almost a decade ago, the Scerine family opened a part of their house to the local population to serve the traditional foods of Lione. It was an instant success, and individuals from far and near lined up to dine at the comfortable, humble house. During his recent stay in Lione, the Emperor of Catalania dined at the house, and commended them for their delicious Anecci and Liozzo. The Academy of Lione / Many call it the greatest college for the war arts to ever have existed. Located near the city's armory and the Royal Palace, the Academy is an immense four story building. The professors include important members of the Militia from around the continent, and on occasions, the Knights of the Empire will instruct classes of advanced students of the sword. Some of the skills taught here include the use of a great variety of swords, strategy, and jousting. |
